Villain Design Capabilities

Dusty Sumner and Greg Nations are Villain's Managing Partners. They have over 40 years of professional experience in the field of advertising, design and marketing. Villain Design Company prides itself on being capable of masterfully designing and concepting anything. Dusty specializes in the creative execution of great ideas through creative direction, art direction and design, while Greg shoulders client service duties along with creative direction and writing responsibilities. Together these two make Villain a design powerhouse that benefits their clients by bringing them top-notch creative while keeping at or sometimes below their budgets. A benefit that is much appreciated in these tough economic times. We don’t cost an arm and a leg. Just an arm.

Before teaming up the two worked on many national and international brands at some of the most prestigious advertising agencies and design firms in the country. Some of these brands include Audi, Blue Bunny, Citgo®, Coleman's Natural Beef, The DIY Network, The Kauffman Foundation, Kellogg's, Lee®, Maggiano’s Little Italy, McDonald's, Miller Lite, Mueller Pasta, Nintendo®, OfficeMax®, People’s Bank, Proven Winners, Reebok, Sonic Drive-In, Sprint, Tom's of Maine, U.S. Army, Vetta Bicycles and Waddell & Reed to name a few.

Oh, and awards. Did we mention those? A few words about awards. We have them. Awards like Communication Arts, Graphis, Cannes, The One Show, Print Magazine and National Gold Addy’s, just to name a few. We like them. But awards aren’t what get us all worked up. What we really get excited about is creating work that helps our client’s brands succeed and grow. That’s better than butter on a biscuit.

BRAND DEVELOPMENT

Villain starts every brand development assignment by learning everything there is to know about that brand so we can find ways to challenge the known world and push the limits of imagination. Villain produces strategies that elevate brands to their highest potential and create stories that demand to be retold. From Concept to Completion we push brands to fulfill their potential.

CAMPAIGNS

We love nothing better than grabbing the attention of the masses and we have been doing it for years with the campaigns we’ve created for a wide range of brands. We don’t necessarily buy into the old belief that a campaign has to consist of Television, Radio, Print, Outdoor and Digital. Every communication challenge is different for every client. Some of our previous campaigns consisted of just poster executions while others were brought to life through radio campaigns or social media.

CONCEPTUAL DEVELOPMENT

Aaahh, one of the best parts of our jobs, thinking of that new break through concept. There is nothing quite like the rush of creating an original idea.

DESIGN

You name it, we can Design it. From Digital Design, Menu Design, Packaging, POS and Retail POP, Brand Identities, Signage, Directional Graphics, Brand Standard Guides, Uniform design, Presentation Design, Trade Show Design, and Outdoor, if you have a specification, we have a design.

DIGITAL

Digital capabilities include, usability and interface design, website and information design, development and execution, online advertising creation, software design and app development.

MOTION AND ANIMATION DESIGN

Some things just need to get jiggy. Motion grabs the consumer and directs their attention. Villain has worked on motion design projects for Presentations, Digital applications, TV and Video usage.

RADIO AND TV

We have conceived and produced hundreds of television and radio spots for Blue-chip clients across America. Some of these have included the Iconic Two Guys Campaign for Sonic-Drive In and the viral smash hit Penny Campaign for OfficeMax.

RESEARCH

Villain’s research division, Sonar, is in business to provide consumer inspired ideas to brands and brand marketers. Research is after all the story of a product or service, and we consider ourselves to be very good storytellers. The consumer videos we produce are like fascinating short films. Our written research reports look and read like a magazine thus improving the attention span as well as the information retention of the reader. Our ethnographic research exposes product and lifestyle insights that help clients develop better ideas and more fully understand their target audience.

Throughout history, famous heroes have been pushed to the limits of their potential, propelled by the least likely of culprits to win the hearts of the masses and defeat their foes. Every Hero needs a Villain to create mind-shattering schemes that challenge traditional thought and drive the Hero to achieve their greatest potential.

Without the challenge of a Villain at every turn, how would a Hero spark new thoughts and overcome obstacles? Villains are constantly coming up with unconventional methods and grand schemes that ultimately aid heroes and propel them to greatness. Villain has over 35 years experience working with national and international Blue-Chip Brands producing results-driven work. We are a brand awareness-building workhorse whose creative insight and wisdom help produce results, thus transforming you from a mere mortal into a hero in the eyes of your CEO and consumers.

The Effoil Tower

No it's not 1050 feet tall, it's nickname is not La dame defer and it wasn't built by famous French engineer Gustave Eiffel. It is however 2 1/2 inches tall and was made in America by an American which we think gives it more character than the Iron Lady over in France.

Foil Twister

F3, F4, F5? No, it's an F6 because that's how many minutes it took us to make this baby.
